While the location is smack in the middle of the city’s hustle and bustle, the 105-square-meter apartment is a luxurious, quiet, peaceful haven.
The apartment features spacious, open living spaces for families to enjoy together, and yet there is privacy available for each family member. Upon entry, you’ll find yourself in a spacious foyer with a tiled floor that opens onto a sumptuous living room with crystal chandeliers overlooking storybook Old Town’s roofs.
There’s much more: The living room has a wood-burning fireplace; the spacious L-shaped living room blends in with a connected dining room and a kitchen with integrated appliances; the bedrooms are separated by an interior hallway for privacy; the main bathroom has a sauna with a window that looks out to Old Town roofs; and the second bathroom includes storage, and a washing machine.
The apartment is on the fourth floor with windows that face two directions. It was built in its present configuration in 2004. Current owners additionally renovated the apartment in the 2010s and it has been lovingly maintained and updated.

The Building
Suur-Karja 4 is a six-story stone building that dates back to the 1800s. In all, it has 20 apartments and two commercial spaces on the ground floor. Entrance to the apartments is from a courtyard with a locked gate.
Originally a 2-story Baroque building, it was rebuilt in the 1920s according to plans by renowned Estonian architects Eugen Habermann and Herbert Johanson.
In 2004, a major overhaul of the entire building included replacement of water and sewage systems, the heating and electrical system, floors, windows, doors, and the roof, as well as a renovation of the façade and the hallways.
In 2019-2020, a new roof covering was installed, part of the roof support system was renewed, and the whole roof was insulated.
In 2020, the courtyard and the heating unit was renovated.
In 2021, the façade was renovated again.
In 2026, new gates will be installed.
